This patch was issued to represent the payload on the GPS IIF-8 Mission which launched aboard an Atlas V - 401 rocket.  This is the 8th in a series of 12 missions to replace our current (and aging) constellation of GPS Satellites.  SPICA is the brightest star in the Virgo constellation, represented on the patch.  Also on the patch is the alligator representing the 45th LCSS - the Air Force Squadron tasked with supporting processing of the payload.

AFSPC-5 Mission Patch

AFSPC-5 Payload Mission patch.  This mission launched from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Launch Complex 41 on 20 May, 2015 aboard an Atlas V 501 launch vehicle.  The payload consisted of the 4th flight of the X37B experimental space plane, along with the Air Force Space Command's (AFSPC-5) satellite and Bill Nye's (CEO of the Planetary Society) LightSail experiment.

GPS IIF-10 Launch Vehicle Patch - Atlas V

GPS IIF-10 Patch.  Issued by the Launch Vehicle Support Squadron.  This is the 10th in a series of 12 missions whose purpose is to replace the current (and aging) constellation of Global Positioning Satellites (GPS).  The United Launch Alliance Atlas V 401 Launch Vehicle is scheduled to launch on July 15, 2015 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.  The Launch Vehicle tail number (AV-055) is represented along with 10 satellites in orbit.  The scorpion represents this satellite, named Antares after the brightest star of the Scorpius Constellation (also sometimes referred to "the heart of the scorpion".  The 5 red stars represent the 5th Support Launch Squadron.

MOUS-4 Payload Mission Patch - 45th LCSS

The U.S. Navy’s Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) is a next-generation narrowband tactical satellite communications system designed to significantly improve ground communications for U.S. forces on the move. MUOS will provide military users more communications capability over existing systems, including simultaneous voice, video and data - similar to the capabilities experienced today with smart phones.

 

This patch is issued by the 45th LCSS support squadron.  This patch prominently features the 45ths mascot, the aligator, which represents the squadron's Mission Assurance role for satellite processing.  The patch also features four red stars, one for each of the 4 MUOS satellites in orbit.  The anchor relates to the Navy's relationship to the satellite.

GPS IIF-11's call sign is Altair, named after the brightest star in the constellation Aquila. The Eagle represents Altair, the GPS IIF-11 satellite

MUOS-4 Patch 5th SLS

The AtlasV is clearly represented on the patch. Surrounded by 4 white stars which are representative of the 4th MUOS satellite to be placed in orbit.  The anchor on the patch represents the relationship between the communication's satellite and the Navy.   AV-056 is the tail number of the launch vehicle.  The 5 red stars represent the 5th SLS.  "Non Sibi Sed Patriae", meaning "not for self, but for fatherland" is a phrase that can be found inscribed on some war memorials as well as over the chapel doors at the United States Naval Academy.

On the lower edge of the patch the Atlas emblem can be found.

MORELOS-3 Launch Vehicle Mission Patch.  Launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL on 2 October 2015, this mission marked United Launch Alliance's (ULA) 100th successful payload delivery into space.  The Atlas V 421 blasted off from Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) carrying the Morelos-3 communications satellite on behalf of Mexico's Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes (Ministry of Communications & Transportation).  Morelos-3 completes a constellation of 2 satellites (Mexsat Constellation) that will service education and health programs, as well as voice, data, video & internet services.  It will also augument services to rural regions of the country.

Launch Vehicle Support Squadron Mission Patch for the launch of GPS IIF-11.   This patch depicts 11 stars to represent the 11th of 12 satellites launched to complete this constellation.  The stars are composed of 5 red stars to represent the 5th Support Launch Squadron (SLS), 5 white stars plus 1 gold star representing the brightest star in the constellation. Together, these 11 stars represent the 11 (out of 12) satellites that are already in orbit that form this GPS constellation.  This satellite rides aboard an Atlas V 401 Launch Vehicle with tail number AV-060 (60th mission for the Atlas Rocket). The patch gets its shape from the Altair star in the Aquila constellation, which the mission itself is associated with. The navstar is at the head of the shape, just as the Altair star is in the head of the Aquila constellation. The wings themselves are designed in as cutouts of the Prop and Wings insignia, a salute to the efforts of the Air Force in this mission and the entire GPS program.  This mission was launched successfuly on 31 October 2015 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Space Launch Complex (SLC) 41
