6555th Aerospace Test Group embroidered patch.
This historical patch was assigned to the United States Air Force unit assigned to the Eastern Space and Missile Center and stationed at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. It was activated in 1950 to be responsible for the development of USAF missiles and later heavy launch rockets used for satellite deployment. It played a significant part in the early Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space programs and later on in military related shuttle missions. It was deactivated in late 1990.
