Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Dave Scott flew the unexpectedly shortened Gemini 8 mission March 16-17, 1966. After performing a flawless docking with an unmanned Agena target vehicle, a Gemini steering jet failed and caused a nearly fatal tumbling of the capsule. After regaining control the crew had to end their mission.
