Astronauts Gordon Cooper and Pete Conrad flew Gemini 5 on Aug. 21-29. The mission's unofficial motto, which was removed from the first official crew patch by order of the NASA Administrator, was "Eight Days or Bust." Gemini 5 was the first spaceflight to use fuel cells to generate electricity.
