Astronauts Jim McDivitt and Ed White flew Gemini 4 on June 3-7, 1965. During the mission White performed the U.S.'s first spacewalk, which lasted 22 minutes. While the crew considered the American flag they wore as their official crew patch, all future NASA spaceflights included an original mission emblem. NOTE: This patch was designed long after the mission flew and was never approved by the astronauts. It is presented only as a souvenir of the mission.
