GovSat-1 was successfully launched from Launch Complex 40 in Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida at 4:21 pm on 31 January 2018 aboard a SpaceX Falcon9 rocket.
GovSat-1 is the first in a series of satellites launched for the Government of Luxemburg. It will support communications within Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and enable operations over the Atlantic and Indian oceans, as well as over the Mediterranean and Baltic seas.
